OED Education Program FAQs
+
What should I expect in Equity and Diversity Education program workshops?
Our workshops are highly participatory and interactive. Most workshops include small group and large group conversations, as well as videos.
Please note: The topics we discuss may be activating and/or triggering in ways that are expected, or unexpected. We encourage you, our learners, to care for yourselves in the ways you best know how, while challenging yourself to grow.
+
Do the workshops need to be taken in any particular order?
All Equity and Diversity Certificate Program workshops are stand-alone and do not need to be taken in any particular order. However, learners are encouraged to complete the My Role in Equity & Diversity Work workshop first.
+
Do I need to take the workshops within a certain amount of time to earn a Certificate of completion?
No. You may take the workshops at your own pace, whether that is attending all 10 in one semester, or spread out over time in a way that works best with your schedule. It's up to you.
+
What if I need to arrive late or leave early for a workshop or group discussion?
We encourage learners to arrive 10 minutes before the session starts, and if you are 15 minutes late or have to leave 15 minutes before the end of the workshop, we encourage you to attend an alternate date.
If you are no longer able to attend or more than 15 minutes, decline the google calendar invite and submit a 'drop request' or 'transfer request' in the Destiny One Registration System (DORS) to allow learners from the waitlist an opportunity to participate in the Zoom dialogue section or workshop. Please note: if it is within 48 hours of the Zoom dialogue section or workshop email [email protected].
+
When are the workshops offered?
The Equity and Diversity Certificate Workshops are offered every fall, spring and summer term. Please see our website for additional information.
+
How do I sign up for the workshops?
To register please visit the Office for Equity and Diversity Education Program website, or through the Destiny One Registration System (DORS).
+
I have completed the Equity and Diversity Certificate Program. How do I request a Certificate of completion?
Upon completion of all 10 of the required ECHO courses, request a digital badge and/or certificate by submitting the ECHO Digital Badge and/or Certificate Request Form.
Please note, if you completed the ECHO program prior to 2018, we recommend that you refresh the program as the content and format has evolved significantly.
+
Who do I need to contact if I suddenly can't make the workshop?
If you are no longer able to attend, decline the google calendar invite and submit a 'drop request' or 'transfer request' in the Destiny One Registration System (DORS) to allow learners from the waitlist an opportunity to participate in the Zoom dialogue section or workshop. Please note: if it is within 48 hours of the Zoom dialogue section or workshop email [email protected].
+
Are members of the press allowed to attend these workshops?
Given the nature of these participatory workshops, members of the press or other media affiliates may not register or attend. Should the media request information about the content of these workshops, please contact the Office for Equity and Diversity’s Director of Communications, Lisa Marshall ([email protected]), who can direct you to the appropriate content expert. For more information on the University's media guidelines, please visit this website.
+
Will the Equity and Diversity Certificate workshops be offered online?
At this time, the Office for Equity and Diversity (OED) Education Program will continue to offer our Equity and Diversity Programming online through ECHO (Equity Certificate Hosted Online) via Zoom and Canvas.
+
Who tracks my participation? If I finish the Equity and Diversity Certificate, do I get a physical Certificate of completion?
Our office tracks attendance through the Destiny One Registration System (DORS). If you have any questions or notice any discrepancies with your training record, please contact us at [email protected].
To track progress, log into your Destiny One Registration System (DORS) account at learning.umn.edu and click on 'My Enrollment History' to see the course(s) for which you are enrolled and/or have completed. For additional reference we’ve included a step by step guide on how faculty, staff, and students can pull this transcript from DORS.
If you have taken certificate courses through the former PeopleSoft system and/or through ULearn, your completion will not be reflected in your current Training Hub records. However, you may check your complete Training Record (PeopleSoft, ULearn data, and Training Hub) through the Office of Human Resources system: Training History Report. Please note: if you previously completed course(s) in Training Hub, these have been imported into DORS and should be reflected under ‘My Enrollment History’ and will not be reflected on the Office of Human Resources system: Training History Report.
